about

If you know the debut of The Fire Harvest (Singing, Dancing, Drinking from 2016), then you know that this Dutch band has patents on slow alt country similar to Idaho, Songs: Ohia and Low.
The good news? Nothing has changed that on Open Water. The better news? The quality of the compositions is even higher. Wonderfully dark fingerpicking guitar parts, open chords, a singer / guitarist (Gerben Houwer) who sings the tormented lyrics from his heart. Plus the fact that there is always an interesting turn in their long, dynamic songs. The quartet (besides Gerben Houwer consisting of Gibson Houwer, Nicolai Adolfs and Jacco van Elst) has again delivered eight songs for this second full album. The debut was recorded by Daniel Romano, this album was made with help from the Canadian songwriter Michael Feuerstack (Snailhouse, Wooden Stars). Again the band from Utrecht is doing what they have been good at since the very beginning of The Fire Harvest: delivering uncompromising, withheld, yet melodic slowcore on the highest level.

about

The Fire Harvest Utrecht, The Netherlands

The sound of The Fire Harvest reminds the listener to the glory days of (alt)country, slowcore and (post)punk; a time in which band members were formed musically. The songs are featured by a modest but dynamical character.
